Ginger is one of the most diverse herbal ingredients in the entire world, and it is certainly one of the most popular. When we think of ginger root nowadays, it is primary used for culinary purposes. Several centuries ago however, things were very different, as the root was, and still is in fact, used for medicinal purposes instead.

Ginger root has been a staple ingredient in many alternative medicinal treatments for centuries upon centuries, and for very good reason. Not only can ginger be consumed in ground/powdered form, but it can also be used in many other ways, especially when the essential oil is extracted.

Our Ginger Essential Oil is produced by steam distillation of the root of the ginger herb,  a perennial which grows best in tropical regions.  As a plant, it is today mainly cultivated in India, China and Madagascar as well as in various tropical countries that include the West Indies, Jamaica and Nigeria.

Ginger oil eases nausea and vomiting – feeling nauseous and unwell is not pleasant, and if you find yourself suffering with an illness, or other conditions such as morning sickness, which cause vomiting and nausea, you may wish to try natural ginger oil. Studies have found that ginger oil can function as an anti-emetic which is completely natural, helping to ease the symptoms of nausea and vomiting.

Ginger oil is a natural anti-inflammatory – Within the body, inflammation can manifest itself in all kinds of ways, and can cause all kinds of negative side effects. For example, inflammation can cause headaches, as well as muscular pain and discomfort, and joint pain, including arthritis. Ginger oil however, functions by naturally inhibiting the effects of the biosynthesis of leukotriene and prostaglandin. These are genes within the human body that are responsible for triggering automatic inflammatory responses to various stimuli. Ginger oil contains active compounds which possess anti-inflammatory properties which can help alleviate the symptoms associated with inflammation, including arthritis, migraines, and muscular discomfort.

Ginger oil provides neuroprotective benefits for the brain – Another key health benefit associated with ginger oil, is the fact that it has been proven to provide neuroprotective benefits to the brain. Ginger oil can help treat respiratory disorders – Finally, the last benefit of ginger oil which we’ll be looking at today, is the fact that it has been proven to help treat respiratory disorders. This is because ginger oil functions as a potent expectorant, so it helps to remove mucus from your airways, helping you to breathe clearer and easier.
