Check for Three Common Airborne Allergies at Home
The Imutest Airborne Allergy Screen Kit is a convenient home blood test designed to screen for sensitivity to three common airborne allergens: cats, house dust mites and grass pollen.
Airborne allergies can be associated with symptoms such as sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, irritated skin, coughing or breathing difficulties. Because several different allergens can produce similar symptoms, identifying which ones may be relevant can be a useful first step towards discussing appropriate allergy management with a healthcare professional.
The Airborne Allergy Screen combines three allergy screens in one home health test. Only one small finger-prick blood sample is required, with results available in around 30 minutes.
Key Benefits
- Three allergy screens in one: checks for sensitivity to cats, house dust mites and grass pollen.
- One finger-prick sample: all three allergens are screened using the same small blood sample.
- Fast home results: the complete testing process takes around 30 minutes.
- Simple to use: the test follows a straightforward six-step procedure with instructions supplied in the pack.
- Use in your own home: no laboratory visit or appointment is required.
- Suitable for adults and children: making it useful where airborne allergy symptoms are affecting different members of the family.
How Does the Airborne Allergy Screen Work?
When someone has an allergy, their immune system may produce increased levels of antibodies called Immunoglobulin E, or IgE, in response to a particular allergen.
The Imutest Airborne Allergy Screen checks the blood sample for IgE antibodies associated with cats, house dust mites and grass pollen. Separate result areas allow you to see whether the test has detected a raised response to one or more of these allergens.
This is a screening test rather than a complete medical diagnosis. A positive result indicates that raised IgE antibodies to the relevant allergen have been detected and should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.
Results Explained
The test can produce separate results for each of the three airborne allergens, helping you identify whether cats, dust mites or grass pollen may be associated with your symptoms.
Always interpret the test using the Instructions for Use supplied with the kit. If you receive a positive result, particularly if you regularly experience troublesome or severe symptoms, speak to your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional for advice.
A negative result does not completely rule out an allergy. If you continue to experience symptoms that you think may be allergy-related, seek medical advice even if your home test result is negative.
How To Use the Imutest Airborne Allergy Screen
The kit is designed to be completed in six straightforward stages. Always read the enclosed Instructions for Use in full before starting the test.
- Prepare the finger-prick device. Remove the protective cover and use the lancet on the soft pad of the fingertip.
- Collect the blood sample. Gently massage towards the fingertip and use the supplied collection tube to collect the required amount of blood.
- Add the sample. Place the collected blood into the small sample well on the test device as shown in the instructions.
- Add the developer solution. Add the supplied solution to the larger well and leave the test undisturbed for 15 minutes.
- Activate the test. After 15 minutes, pull the blue slider fully into position and wait for the second timed stage.
- Read the results. Interpret the result indicators using the Instructions for Use supplied with your kit.

Who Is This Test Suitable For?
The Imutest Airborne Allergy Screen may be useful for adults or children who experience recurring symptoms that appear to be associated with cats, dusty environments or grass pollen.
It can be particularly helpful when symptoms could have several possible triggers, as one sample screens for all three allergens rather than requiring three separate tests.
For children, the test should be carried out by a responsible adult in accordance with the instructions supplied with the kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What allergies does the Airborne Allergy Screen test for?
The kit screens for IgE antibodies associated with three common airborne allergens: cats, house dust mites and grass pollen.
Do I need three separate blood samples?
No. One small finger-prick blood sample is used to screen for all three allergens.
How quickly will I get my results?
The complete testing process takes around 30 minutes. Follow the timing and result-reading instructions supplied with the kit carefully.
Does a positive result mean I definitely have an allergy?
A positive result indicates that raised IgE antibodies associated with the allergen have been detected. Home allergy screening should not be considered a complete diagnosis, so it is sensible to discuss a positive result and any ongoing symptoms with a healthcare professional.
What if the test is negative but I still have symptoms?
A negative result does not rule out every possible allergy or cause of your symptoms. If symptoms continue, speak to your GP or another healthcare professional for further advice.
Can the Airborne Allergy Screen be used for children?
Yes. Imutest states that its allergen-specific home screening kits, including the Airborne Allergy Screen, are suitable for children as well as adults. An adult should perform the test on a child and follow the supplied instructions carefully.
