Black Pepper Essential Oil (Piper Nigrum) 10ml

Black Pepper Essential Oil (Piper nigrum) comes from the Piperaceae plant family. It originates from south west India and is grown in many tropical countries including India, Malaysia, Madagascar and Indonesia.

Extraction

This essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the whole or crushed fruits of the plant.

Properties claimed for Black Pepper essential oil include: Analgesic, Antispasmodic, Detoxyfying, Stimulant, Warming, Restorative.

in aromatherapy,Black Pepper essential oil is often used in massage blends for stiff and aching joints, muscular pain and fatigue. It is often mixed into in massage blends for dancers and those taking part in sporting activities. It can help ease bruising and painful and swollen muscles and joints, especially arthritic or rheumatoid conditions.

It’s a strong oil in both odour and action so should always be well diluted (we suggest a maximum of 1-2% in a blend with other oils – see Blends Well With below). It may also benefit people suffering with rheumatism and arthritis.

Aromatherapists use Black Pepper to treat digestive tract problems due to its antispasmodic properties. It relieves constipation, flatulence and sluggish digestive systems.

It can also be used to treat anaemia as it stimulates the spleen and so assists in the creation of new blood cells.

It can also be used as an aphrodisiac. It physically increases blood flow and sensitivity, and is claimed to heighten passion and emotion.

Most essential oils generally blend well with one another. In our experience, Black Pepper oil does go very well with other essential oils such as bergamot, clary sage, coriander, fennel, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, lavender, juniper, lemon, lime, mandarin, sage, sandalwood and ylang ylang.
