Our Cassia Essential Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the bark of the plant. Cassia is a tropical evergreen tree with a thin trunk. It has leathery leaves and many yellow flowers. It is normally kept short like a shrub for cultivation purposes. It is native to South East China.

Cassia Essential Oil is spicy and warm. It is similar to Cinnamon.

Cassia has been used as a culinary spice for many centuries. Today it is often used as a cheaper alternative for cinnamon. In modern products and foods it can be sued as a household spice, a flavouring in processed foods, a mouthwash ingredient and a spicy scent for home fragrance sprays.

5 Key Benefits & Uses of Cassia Essential Oil

1. We recommend  that Cassia is not used on the skin.  The oil is a very strong dermal irritant and can easily cause sensitisation. Some Aromatherapists will use it in very small amounts along with other synergistic oils.

2. Cassia Essential Oil can be blended into a base cream or lotion to a maximum of 1% to help with  the symptoms associated with rheumatism and arthritis. Before extended use, a skin patch test should be carried out.

3. For symptoms of Laryngitis,Tonsillitis, Sinusitis, Sore Throat, dilute to 2% in sesame oil and gargle.

4. When burned or vaporised, Cassia is often  recommended  for use in cases of colds, fever and flu. It may also be beneficial to the digestive system.

5. Diffusing the oil can help with issues of the Nervous System. These include, nervous tension, stress-related disorders, weakness, fatigue and low self-esteem.

We have found that Cassia Oil blends particularly well with Bergamot, Clary Sage, Cypress, Jasmine, Juniper, Neroli, Rosemary, Rosewood, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang.

Usage:

  • Massages: Whole body massage is not recommended.
  • Vaporisation: 3-5 drops of essential oil should be added to a burner, aroma stone or aroma stream
  • This oil must be highly diluted before using on the skin, otherwise it can cause severe irritation. Avoid during pregnancy.
